Making Things Happen with Mom Biz Retreat

(Source)
We are barely 2 weeks into 2013 and I've already taken significant strides into creating the life I've been talking about for years. I've been intentional about getting out, having fun and meeting new people. The purpose of this has been to invest in myself and also my business. As a single mom I've spent the last 6 years focusing on my son and making sure he has what he needs to be a healthy child. Have I made sacrifices? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. I love my son with everything in me. But sometimes I feel as if I've lost myself along the way. Matter of fact, I know I have. This is not a post about regrets, just about moving forward this year and doing some things for myself.

This retreat gives moms an opportunity to work ON their businesses, not just in.
And I want to go.

Here's why.

1. The hardest thing for me to do is admit when I need help. I like to try to figure things out on my own via the library, Google and YouTube. However, I'm come to the realization that they are only going to take me so far. I have read SO many books and have SO many ideas. I need help moving beyond my ideas to action.

2.  I want to get clients for my businesses. I have started working really hard on building my virtual assistant business and my lia sophia business and want to make them more profitable. I believe that this retreat can help me take them to the next level.

3. I want to meet Lara and Shelagh.  I've been participating in #MomBizMondays twitter chats with Lara and Shelagh and have been in love with the supportive community they've created. I want to hug them both for their hard work!

4. I believe that single moms, especially, have unique challenges when it comes to building and running businesses. Not saying we deserve special treatment, just recognition that the support and financial issues are different for many of us. We have to work twice as hard with just two hands. I want to empower other single moms to see that it can be done and that we'll be better parents because of it!

So here's to hopefully winning a scholarship to attend MomBizRetreat.

  2. Laila - your post brings tears to my eyes. You are exactly why Lara and I run MomBiz and host MomBizRetreats. The two things MomBiz Owners don't have is time and money to waste. We can teach ourselves anything, but sometimes learning from others who have done what you want, who know the foundations, the systems and processes you need to implement and who guide and support you to make sure you get what you want... is worth the investment. xxoo
