No Phoning It In.
If you've ever done the 30 Day Shred you'll hear Jillian remind you not to "phone it in". It's her way of saying, give it all you got. If you want results you are going to have to work for it. This is so simple, but speaks volumes. If you want to build your business and generate revenue, you can't take shortcuts. You are going to have to do the work to get to where you want to go.
Make Every Minute Count.
The 30 Day Shred consists of three 20 minute workouts. I have only done level 1, but in those 20 minutes I'm drenched and feeling the burn. Being a single mom, working full-time and building a business means that my time is at a premium. I am not a fan of multitasking because I believe it can lead to unnecessary stress. Instead I like to use the time I've allocated to one project wisely. I use a kitchen timer and an app on Google chrome called Task Timer that help me stay focused. You'd be surprised at how much you can do in 20 minutes.
Make Wellness a Priority
Yes, I want abs like the Jillian. I want to be able to do all 3 workouts and feel like Rocky Balboa running up the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum. And I know I will get there soon if I stick with this routine. I realize that living a healthier lifestyle will help me with the ups and downs of running a business and parenting.
Have you ever tried the 30 Day Shred? Do any of these points resonate with you?

I own 30 day Shred. Though I've made it to level 2, I've also never finished it. All of these points resonate with me. Especially, making wellness a priority. I made a vision board for the first time and one of the main themes is getting fit. Yesterday I started counting my calories again. I was going to ease into workouts. However, seeing your post made me pull it out my Shred dvd. No time like the present. I'm starting the Shred tonight! Thanks
ReplyDeleteYay, Jenni!
DeleteI'm gonna do it with you. My DVD has been sitting on the shelf for years too. Let's get it!
ReplyDeleteLet's go!
DeleteI LOVE IT! I did it religiously in 2009/2010 after having my now 3 year-old daughter and it really worked for me. Now I do it now and then, but it is a great workout in a short amount of time. I would especially use it on days when I felt like I "didn't have time to workout," as from start to finish, the originally DVD version (there is a newer and slightly longer one out now), is only 27 mins. long! I have a bunch of her videos and really like them/her style! She does get results if you stick with it.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Laila! Those are great insights. I spent all of last year incorporating exercise into my weekly routine and it really does make a difference. I plan to step it up a bit this year and may consider get this DVD. I have her game for the Wii and it's good!
ReplyDeleteI've not tried anything like that, but agree with you on multitasking. I feel I do a much better job if I focus on just one thing for a short period of time than if I'd done three things at the same time for an hour straight. Plus its just stressful to try and juggle so much!
ReplyDeleteThis is GREAT! I also own the 30 Day Shred, but as I write this, I don't even know where it is. Guess it's time to start searching and make it a priority.
ReplyDeleteI FINALLY started and completed the 30 Day Shred- TOTALLY worth it! But more importantly all the points you made here are very true! Now I need to dedicate the same amount of energy I did to the 30 Day Shred into my blog during my break from my next semester.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!
I haven't tried 30-day Shred. I don't know if it's the right speed for me.. I think I'd do better with something a little less intense and longer-term.
ReplyDeleteLoved the lessons it's taught you...here's to completing it this year!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Great post. Keep it up baby sis!
